Cormac is a member of the Advocacy Team in One in Four and reports on our new building in Arran Quay.

Having long outgrown our old premises on Holles Street, we were all delighted to move to our new building in March.

No sooner had the two Deirdres finished loading up the final removal truck and sent it off across the city than our doors were open again. The seamlessness of the move, much of the work was carried out over a single weekend, is a testament to their hard work and project-management skills.

The new building, which is on Arran Quay and just off Smithfield Square, offers greater accessibility to our clients. Not only does it enjoy a central location in the city, but there is a bus stop not far from our front door and just around the corner is the Smithfield Luas stop which offers direct connections to Busaras, Heuston and Connolly Stations.

The building has four floors. On the ground floor, visitors are welcomed by Ann-Marie who now has a bright spacious reception area, with a separate waiting room, and a small kitchen area where tea and coffee can be made. There are consultation rooms where therapy sessions can be held and another room where clients can meet with a member of the advocacy team.

On the first floor, as well as Maeve’s office, there is another four therapy rooms and a meeting room.

The Therapy and Advocacy Team offices are on the next floor. While on the top floor, there is a kitchen, another meeting room – which doubles as a staffroom at lunchtime – and more offices which house the Business Services, Administration and Fundraising Teams.

The building is wheelchair accessible on the ground floor and is well-appointed with toilet facilities. The colour scheme is a calming combination of pale blue and grey while there are scenic views of the Quays from the front of the building.

One of the many advantages of the new building is that, with two meeting rooms, two groups can gather simultaneously. This is something that happened for the first time, one Tuesday evening, only a few weeks ago.

We are all looking forward to providing the highest standard of service from our new building in the coming years.

We would also like to thank all our supporters for all the ways they have contributed to making our move possible.
