Be part of buying affordable original art, that may have been made by a famous artist, to raise valuable funds for survivors of child sexual abuse.

One in Four’s Secret Art Sale is an online art exhibition and sale with an unexpected twist! The works have all been anonymously donated by acclaimed international artists, emerging artists, art students and illustrators. You can buy any of the original pieces for just €50 each but you will not know who produced the art until you buy it.

The sale will begin on One in Four’s website at 9am on Thursday 1st December and will be live for 10 days. Featuring hundreds of works by renowned international artists such as Padraig Timoney, Damien Duffy, Kat Ennis, Lorraine Fenlon, Jonathon Dickinson and Gareth McConnell.

Deirdre Kenny, One in Four’s  said:

‘The response from artists throughout Ireland has been incredible, with donations of art work flooding into our office. The Secret Art Sale has come at the right time. Demand for our services has never been so high. Many people who have been sexually abused as a child struggle all their lives with feelings of anxiety, shame, loneliness and depression.  We want to be there for each and every one of them, the sale of the art will go directly to supporting the next survivor who contacts us.

Michelle Ryan, an artist involved, said:

‘Art allows us to reinterpret life through a new lens. I believe art can be a social vehicle that shifts perceptions and changes in society. Survivors of child sexual abuse and charities that support them like One in Four really need support and for people to understand the impact they are making.’

Taking part in the Secret Art Sale means One in Four can provide valuable therapy hours to survivors to fully explore the impact childhood sexual abuse has had on their lives, to deal with the painful emotions and to move on with their lives free from the trauma inflicted upon them as children.

Secret Art Sale will begin 9am on Thursday 1st December at www.oneinfour.ie

ABOUT ONE IN FOUR: Since 2003, One in Four has been a listening ear. We have been a support, a refuge, a lifeline. We provide professional counselling to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

Here in One in Four, we also work with offenders. There are many supports for those who are in prison or on release, but we identified a gap with non-convicted offenders and rose to the challenge. Our sex-offender intervention programme is unique in its field, and we regularly speak about our work at conferences, both at home and internationally.

Historically, Ireland has not had a good reputation when it comes to supporting survivors of childhood sexual abuse, or delivering justice. Our first clients were survivors of clerical or institutional abuse. Nowadays most of our clients have been abused by a member of their own family, or by someone trusted in their community.

In One in Four, our vision is an Irish society where children are safe from the threat of sexual harm. Every single day we work towards this vision. It’s what drives us, what fuels us. Our therapists are highly trained, and have extensive experience working in the field of childhood sexual abuse. But the reality is, every single staff member is cloaked in kindness and empathy, and have the skillset to handle any situation as it is presented.
