Training

Over the years One in Four has developed a high level of expertise in working with adult survivors of child sexual abuse and we have created a model of psychotherapy and advocacy support that reflects their needs. We now offer tailored training courses to professionals and organisations so that our experience can inform their engagement with survivors.

COURSE 1

Mandatory Reporting and the Therapeutic Relationship

Course Outline

It is now mandatory for professionals to report child sexual abuse to the civil authorities.

This course aims to:

  • provide clear information to counsellors and psychotherapists working with adult survivors of child sexual abuse regarding their legal obligations to report retrospective allegations.
  • Explore strategies to manage the impact on the therapeutic relationship.

The course is participative and experiential and includes presentations, small group work and role plays. Extensive hand-outs are provided.

COURSE 2

Mandatory Reporting and the Therapeutic Relationship

A Master Class

It is now mandatory for professionals to report child sexual abuse to the civil authorities.

This master class will

  • Explore in-depth the impact of the mandatory reporting on the therapeutic relationship
  • Allow therapists to explore their personal challenges in implementing the policy
  • Using case studies to examine transference and counter transference.
  • Review the legal situation

The course is participative and experiential and includes presentations, small group work. Extensive hand-outs are provided.

This one day course is only suitable for psychotherapists who have already completed One in Four’s Child Protection and the Counsellor / Psychotherapist training.
